History of the Study Program

The Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Alma Ata (UAA) Yogyakarta is part of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan). Universitas Alma Ata was officially established and organized by the Alma Ata Foundation on December 21, 2015 in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Number 155/KPT/I/2015. UAA was formed through the transformation of the Alma Ata School of Health Sciences (STIKES), originally established on June 29, 2006 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 108/D/0/2006, and the Alma Ata School of Islamic Studies (STIA). Universitas Alma Ata currently consists of five faculties: Faculty of Computer Science (FKOM), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK), Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), and Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES). In 2021, changes were made to faculty names and the grouping of study programs under Rector’s Decree No. 195/A/SK/UAA/XI/2021 to support the development of new programs in technical fields.

The Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK) manages five undergraduate study programs including the Bachelor of Mathematics Education. As a private higher education institution under the jurisdiction of LLDIKTI Region V, FITK is committed to implementing the three pillars of higher education — education, research, and community service — in a directed manner in accordance with the vision, mission, goals, and targets of Universitas Alma Ata.

The core values of the university are based on Islamic teachings of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin and guide all academic and administrative work. They are expressed through three main core values: Alma Ata (derived from Alima meaning knowledge and Ata meaning presence — signifying the university’s presence to build a professional society grounded in scientific principles), We Are Healthy (inspired by the 1978 global health declaration), and LIFE. These values serve as the foundation for building excellence in higher education and developing competent graduates who uphold scientific integrity and ethical conduct.

Aligned with these foundational values, Universitas Alma Ata was established to continue the legacy of Islamic scholars and pesantren leaders by producing knowledgeable, professional human resources who uphold scientific principles, exhibit noble character, and serve the needs of the community.
